Living in the fullness of who you are

A born-again child of God does not have a spirit of this world; your sinful nature is dead (2 Corinthians 5:17). You are now a new creation as you possess the Spirit of Jesus Christ given to you by the Father (Galatians 4:6). You have the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:12). Having the Spirit of God, you may know things that have been freely given to you by the Lord (1 Corinthians 2:12). In your spirit you have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthian 2:16). The Amplified Version says, “you hold the thoughts, feelings and purposes of His heart”.

However, knowing you possess the Spirit of God, by Jesus Christ, is only part of what is necessary to experience a life lived by the Spirit. It is by the knowledge of God that you are able to live in and from divine fullness (2 Peter 1:3,4). Knowledge of God, that is intimacy with Him, is the result of knowing His Word; that is the Lord speaking to you and directing you. It is beyond head knowledge, moving you to experience the Lord. This is intimacy with Him.

It is by knowing God through Jesus, knowing the magnificence of His love, actually experiencing Him, that you are filled with His fullness. Then He is “able to live in you and through you to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that you could ask or think, according to His power that works in you” (Ephesians 3:19,20).

You must have your understanding opened by the Lord, so that you may have revelation, deep intimate knowledge of Him. As He opens your understanding to Him and His ways, you begin to understand the hope of His calling for you as His child; you have understanding of His divine fullness in you; His immeasurable and unlimited resurrection power (Ephesians 1:17-20).

It is by renewing your mind with God’s Word, that you are able to prove His good, acceptable and perfect will (Romans 12:2). So, it is one thing to know you possess God’s Spirit, but living from His Spirit is not automatic. You must be spiritually minded and not carnally or worldly minded. “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 8:6). It is the “Spirit Himself that testifies together with your spirit (assuring you) that you are a child of God” (Romans 8:16). You must “set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 2:2). The more you think like the world, the more you are unable to live from your spirit even though you are one with the Spirit of God. The fact is, as a born-again child of God, you “died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). Your old nature is what died, and your new nature is that of Christ. But your mind still needs to be renewed with God’s Word.

So, when you hear God’s voice, you must not harden your heart, being persuaded by the natural, by the world. This is what feeds unbelief and causes you to be shut out from receiving God’s blessing, even though He has given you everything that you need for life and godliness. His benefits cannot be received because unbelief is being fed. (Hebrews 3:15-19; 2 Peter 1:3). Intimacy, knowledge of God is essential; renewing your mind with His Word, in order to participate in His blessings, live from His Spirit, and allow Him to do a mighty work in and through you. You are fully equipped to live in His abundance!
