Wisdom and knowledge that comes from God are your vital necessity! We must know His truth so we may be protected from believing a false doctrine, a skewed philosophy. Knowing God’s truth keeps us grounded in His love so we do not seek false idols as a replacement for Him. We seek idols, that is, anything that is a substitute for God, because we lack knowledge and understanding of Him. We may even judge God’s Word and promises as failures; we judge from a place of limitation, of poor understanding of His truth. Knowing His truth prevents us from distancing ourselves from God’s presence. Gaining understanding of the Word of God by His Holy Spirit puts us in a position to know His love. From that position, we fight, resisting every lie, and there we remain grounded on a sure foundation. Then, trouble and challenges don’t push us away from the Lord; they draw us closer to Him. He has captured our attention with truth. On this sure foundation, we are changed to be more like Him even when we are pressed by the adversary who belongs to this world. We are not pressed into the mold of the world with its wrong thinking. God helps us to recognize a lie because we know the truth.
Colossians 2:8, TPT, makes it very clear:
“Beware that no one distracts you or intimidates you in their attempt to lead you away from Christ’s fullness by pretending to be full of wisdom when they’re filled with endless arguments of human logic. For they operate with humanistic and clouded judgements based on the mindset of this world system, and not the anointed truths of the Anointed One.”
Lies are distractions. Intimidation will occur. Only the Word will establish us and keep us focused on the Source, the Truth, the Sustainer, and in that position, we will experience peace, even during tribulation, trial, and temptation. The experience of great peace, which is the result of a relationship with the Lord Who is peace, comes with a great fight; a fight of endurance and resistance. But be encouraged, as the battle belongs to God and we are sustained by Him, the Greater One!
Knowledge of God and our Lord Jesus Christ causes grace and perfect peace to cascade over our lives (2 Peter 1:2 TPT). By God’s truth, we know Him and Jesus, and by this knowledge we experience that “everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by His divine power. He lavished this upon us through the rich experience of knowing Him Who has called us by name and invited us to come to Him through a glorious manifestation of His goodness” (2 Peter 1:3 TPT). This is your inheritance as a child of God!
The Father has “magnificent promises for us that are beyond all price” (2 Peter 1:4 TPT). There is no earthly comparison that helps us to understand the worth of His greatness to us! His promises are packed with power and provision; the Greek word for this supernatural power of God contained in His Word is dunamis; God’s Word is filled with explosive power! “Through the power of these tremendous promises, we can experience partnership with the divine nature, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world” (2 Peter 1:4 TPT).
This is why the world, the enemy, is so desperate to distract us and lead us away from the truth of God. As children of God, we are a force to be reckoned with! Knowledge from God is power! It is the only knowledge that supplies transforming power and God’s wisdom that saves our lives, equips us, and sustains us in peace. The Word instructs us about God’s nature and how He has equipped us, preparing us to live on this earth as citizens of heaven. By revealing Himself by His Word, He also reveals that we are His workmanship. We witness who we are in our spirit, which abounds with the fullness of God. We also see who we once were because of our sinful nature, and how our mind, will, and emotions are in the process of change according to our renewal by His Word. This creates a tension between our perfected spirits and the parts of us that are still being transformed into His perfection. We need to receive understanding from the Holy Spirit, so we may persevere with patience until the very end, as we experience this tension and the pressure coming against us from the world. Because we know God’s truth, pressure and temptation should not deter us but make us press into the Lord. When we know the truth about God and all He accomplished through Jesus, that is “everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by His divine power” (2 Peter 1:3), we are equipped to remain in hope with expectation. We are heavenly kingdom creations with God’s ability to withstand the pressure of this world, to take our place of authority. This is our fight of endurance with resistance, victoriously empowered and uplifted by God Almighty! It is by His truth, provided by His Word, that we receive the encouragement needed to live the victorious life that Jesus died to give us. We must gain knowledge, believe, and be steadfast in the Word of God; it is our vital necessity!
