You are an extraordinary creation by God’s grace. His Word is descriptive of who He has created you to be. This is not something into the future. This is who you are right now as a child of God. But you grow into your identity as you renew your mind to God’s Word. Are you fully persuaded about your true identity according to the Word of God?
What does Scripture say about you? The moment that you believed in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Who lived, died and rose from the dead, you became a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), God’s workmanship (Ephesians 2:10); this is who you are:
· Chosen
· Purchased
· Royal
· Holy
· Highly favored
· Special
· Forgiven; you are just as if you have never sinned
· Loved by the Father
· Child of God
· One with Father, Son and Holy Spirit
· Sealed with the Holy Spirit
· Possessor of the divine nature of God
· Possessor of the very life of Christ Himself
· Just like Jesus
· Possessor of the mind of Christ
· Filled with the Fruit of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control
· Possessor of resurrection power
· Possessor of authority over satan
· Possessor of authority to use Jesus’ name
· Seated at the right hand of the Father with Jesus Christ
· Possessor of a sound mind
· More than a conqueror
· Sharer of Jesus’ inheritance
· An overcomer
· Delivered from the power of darkness
· Transferred into the kingdom of Jesus Christ
· Strengthened to do all things in Christ Jesus
· Victorious; overwhelming victory is yours through Christ Who loves you
· Free from guilt and condemnation
· Healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ
· Blessed with everything you need for life and godliness as you renew your mind and receive knowledge of Him
All of these things have taken place in your spirit because you are born again; old things have passed away, and behold you are new (2 Corinthians 5:17)! Your mind must be renewed to these truths in order for you to actually live in the fullness of your new creation. Your mind is like a computer with old data that needs to be replaced. Your will and emotions, will reflect your new creation, all that is in your spirit, as your mind is renewed. Your flesh will go along with your renewed mind and godly thoughts according to the Word of God. (Romans 12:2)
One thing you don’t have is the spirit of this world! You have received God’s Spirit and therefore according to His Word, you have the ability to know the wonderful things that God has freely given to you (1 Corinthians 2:12). You have been equipped to receive the truths of God (1 Corinthians 2:14-16).
The Father’s direction to you is clear: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think” (Romans 12:2). So, although your spirit was transformed the moment you believed, your mind must be renewed. He states it this way: “My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to My Words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they are life to those who find them….” (Proverbs 4:20-22).
“You are God’s masterpiece! He has created you brand-new in Christ Jesus, so you may do those good things that He planned for you” (Ephesians 2:10). Believe what the Word of God says about you! Don’t judge yourself by ‘stinkin thinkin’ or bad behaviors. Feed on the Bread of Life and allow Him to inform your thinking about who you really are as a child of God. See yourself according to His Word and allow the fullness of God within you, all of His glory, to flow outward! Amen!
(Scriptures references were left out from the list of who you are as a new creation in order for you to explore and confirm these truths by God’s Word! Happy adventuring!)
