YOU ARE HIS TREASURE!

I was gifted by the family to be the possessor of a family heirloom, a crystal vase owned by my grandmother. The vase, about twelve inches high and etched top to bottom, sat on a round table in the living room. Every grandchild was instructed not to touch the vase or go near the table it sat on. It was always filled with artificial red roses and was the centerpiece of the room.

Knowing the value of the vase as a family treasure, I was meticulous in caring for it. With each relocation over the years, it was wrapped in multiple layers, placed in a sturdy box, and put on the seat of my car, always in my view and protection. I display it on top of a China cabinet to avoid the vase from being bumped or touched.

This treasure is an inanimate object. Yet I recognized its value and importance to my family. Each child of God is His treasure: “But you are God’s treasure… set apart as God’s devoted ones” (1 Peter 2:9 TPT). With the care that even I, as a human being, was able to give the vase, imagine the care that God desires to extend to you as His child! He is the One who called you out of a dark place, a place of guilt, condemnation, and fear. Now, He claims you as His very own (1 Peter 2:9). Now, you are drenched with the mercy and love of God (1 Peter 2:10 TPT)! He delights in you, desires you, and wants to care for you.  He has demonstrated this and confirms it by His Word: “Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has already been lavished upon you as a love gift from your wonderful heavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus…” (Ephesians 1:3 TPT). It was always His plan to adopt you as His child through your union with Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:5 TPT). God intended that His love would cascade over you, giving evidence of His amazing grace (Ephesians 1:6 TPT). This is the same love that He has for His Son Jesus, a love poured out upon you with great pleasure (Ephesians 1:6 TPT)! Through your union with Christ, God has claimed you as His own and has given you an inheritance, the same inheritance that Jesus received (Ephesians 1:11 TPT). “…From the overflow of His fullness, you have received grace heaped upon more grace” (John 1:16). In other words, God cares for you with great love, and therefore He has provided everything that you may need in life.

God is watching over you (1 Peter 5:7 Amp; Psalm 139:1-4). He is El-Roi, the God Who sees you, the One Who has plans for your life (Jeremiah 29:11-14 ESV).

He is the God Who protects you, Jehovah Nissi; the Source of victory, protection, and hope (2 Samuel 22:17-20; Deuteronomy 20:3,4; 2 Chronicles 20:15,17; Habakkuk 3:17,18).

As God’s treasure, He will never abandon you; He will be with you all the days of your life (Joshua 1:5). What great joy, peace, and security you have in the One Who considers you His special treasure, His highly favored one…
