This is no ordinary word. This is the Word of God!

Are you fully persuaded by the Word of God? Do you believe it? Do you believe in its integrity?

Do you believe in its power?

From the beginning of time, God has confirmed the integrity and power of His Word.

He created the heavens and the earth by speaking… “Let there be…” “and it was so” … “And God saw that it was good”. He showed that His Word was a container of creative power.

“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power (active, energizing and effective)” (Hebrews 4:12 Amplified).

Jesus commanded by His Words: sickness went; demons were cast out; waves and wind ceased; food was multiplied; the dead were raised; He told Peter to come and Peter walked on water. Jesus fought the temptation of the devil by speaking His Father’s Word.

God instructed Joshua to meditate on His Word day and night, to know it and do what He said, then Joshua would be prosperous and have good success (Joshua 1:8). Proverbs 4 confirms this instruction: “Give attention to My Word”; listen to what I say; do not let My Word depart from your sight; keep My Word sealed in your heart; My Word is life to you.

Once God speaks, once He blesses, it cannot be reversed; the blessing is forever (1 Chronicles 17:27) He will not alter any word that has gone out of His mouth; He does not lie (Psalm 89:34,35)

His Word never returns to Him void without fulfilling the purpose for which it was sent. (Isaiah 55:11)

God spoke to the Israelites, and they had a chance to enter the Promised Land and participate in His blessing. He instructed them, “Hear My voice and do not harden your heart in unbelief”. But they were not fully persuaded by the Word of God. They did not believe what God said; they did not value His Word and were shut out from receiving the blessing. (Hebrews 3:15-19).

2 Chronicles 20 reveals the opposite response to God’s Word:

  • Threatened by an enemy God gave instructions to Jehoshaphat and the citizens of Judah about how the battle could be won.

  • The people listened, heard God’s Word, and believed. They were fully persuaded.

  • Not only did they follow His instructions, but they praised Him even before experiencing their victory because they believed what He said.

  • God supernaturally intervened and they did not have to fight their adversary because the battle belonged to the Lord.

Mary heard the Word of God through an angel, and she believed. The Word confirms, “Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord” (Luke 1:38). God’s promise was fulfilled! We too are blessed when we believe what God has said.

Abraham is another example of someone who heard, believed, and stood in faith until the promise came to pass. He knew that God was mighty and able to keep His Word and do what He had promised (Romans 4:17-21).

In each situation noted above, the individuals were faced with challenges even after God spoke, challenges that could have caused doubt and unbelief against God’s Word. But they continued to believe what He said. They were fully persuaded and they were blessed to receive the promise. Adversity does not change the Word. It just makes us stand in faith, trusting what God said, and puts patience to work; patience is faith over a prolonged period of time.

Scripture is filled with blessing, instruction, encouragement, and wisdom. It is the foundation of our faith and relationship with the Lord. Are you fully persuaded of its value, integrity, and power? Do you believe?
