The mirror of the Word; a true reflection of the real you

God wants you to know how wonderful and how amazing you are because that is the way He created you. Sometimes you may not see yourself exactly that way or think that way or experience it by your emotions, but the truth is you are God’s workmanship, magnificently created as His child. In creating you this way, He placed His Spirit in your spirit because you believe in His Son Jesus Christ. That is incredible! Remember you have a spirit, that lives in your body of flesh, and you also have a soul, which is your mind, your will and your emotions. The spirit part of you is filled with the Spirit of God Almighty, and in your spirit, you are just like Jesus Christ right now while you live on this earth. In your spirit you possess raising from the dead power, a power that is immeasurable and unlimited. In your spirit you possess the wisdom of God. In your spirit you are holy, without any faults. In your spirit you are perfect. Because your spirit is filled with God Himself, you are equipped to successfully deal with every problem, every circumstance of life as the Lord lives through you. But how do you do that? How do you get all that is within you spirit out of your spirit to live from it? You renew your mind to the Word of God (Romans 12:2). That is, you read the Word, meditate upon it or think about it, speak it out loud, confess it over your life. The Word is actually filled with power; it is alive and active; it is health to your flesh. When you read it, think about it, speak it out, confess it, it has purpose and goes to work to fulfill its purpose (Isaiah 55:11). The Word causes you to be successful in life (Joshua 1:8). That is God’s promise to you and He never breaks a promise!

Your mind needs to be informed of who you are in your spirit, and that is why being in the Word of God is so important. The Word is like looking in a mirror. When you look in a mirror it reflects back to you what you look like. The Word reflects back to you what you are like in your spirit. You are awesome! But in order to live from all that awesomeness, you need to look at the Word of God. The Word will inform your mind of the real you, that is all that God has created you to be in your spirit. As you renew your mind by the Word of God, you will be able to live from your spirit. You will be able to live this extraordinary life that God has created for you. Remember, all the power of God, all His glory, all the characteristics of Him, is in your spirit. His characteristics that reside in your spirit include: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control; this is what He calls the fruit of His Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23). The Word will teach you how to live a victorious life from your spirit. If you live by your flesh, your will and your emotions, you will not be successful, and life will be very frustrating. But when you renew your mind to God’s Word you are empowered by Him to live victoriously and meet every challenge successfully no matter how difficult.

The other thing is when you renew your mind to what God says about you, about who you are, and what you possess, the enemy (the devil) is not able to come against you with a lie because you know the truth. He will still try to distract you by problems or circumstances to make you doubt God’s Word and to cause you to look away from the Lord because you are so distracted. But because you know the truth according to what God says, you recognize the lie; you recognize satan’s trick. This is victorious living!

An example of this is the story of Abraham and Sarah. They were very old when God informed them that Sarah would give birth to a child. Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90. But God said they would have a child who would be the heir to Jesus Christ, despite their old age. Instead of looking at their old bodies and considering what seemed impossible, they both believed what God said. Believing God and not looking at their bodies, they praised God and thanked Him for the wonderful gift of a son. They did not evaluate the situation by considering their age and what seemed impossible. If they had done that, this would have caused unbelief. Instead, they only considered what God said. Sarah did conceive a child and gave birth to Isaac. After his birth, generations later, Jesus was born.

The devil is persistent in coming against your thinking, trying to plant seeds of doubt in your mind to make you think you are not so great; you are not strong; that God doesn’t really live in you; that you don’t possess His power; that you are a looser; that you are a failure; that God doesn’t really love you or care about you; that God doesn’t really have a good plan for your life etc. However, because God’s Word is powerful, alive and active, and you know the truth, these seeds of doubt never take root! So, even though you may have a negative thought now and then in the midst of a difficult or challenging situation, knowing the truth helps you to substitute the lie with what God says. This is excellent because it stops all depression, all anxiety, all hopeless from occurring! This is what it means to live a victorious life as a child of God!

The reality is that you are an absolutely magnificent and wonderful child of Almighty God, filled with great potential for great things. Once you realize this truth, by the help of the Holy Spirit, your life will change in a wonderful way. This doesn’t mean that life will be free from challenges, life has challenges no matter what. But you will meet these challenges as God’s child, victoriously by His strength. You realize that God loves you unconditionally and that He is always present with you to bring you into victory. Life instead, even during difficulty, is an exciting adventure in Him, as you live it trusting the Lord and confident in Him. But this only happens by renewing your mind to His Word, which means you are in relationship with Him, listening and hearing Him speak to you.

This is what God says about His care for you:

“I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not, in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down or relax My hold on! Assuredly not! So, take comfort and be encouraged and confidently and boldly say, ‘The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm, I will not fear or dread or be terrified” (Hebrews 13:6).

You don’t need to be concerned about being perfect. He is with you through all the messiness of life and enjoys being with you. It is God Who is doing a work in you, and He will continue it (Philippians 2:13; Philippians 1:6). You can actually rest in Him and be confident.

The fact is that God is your Father. He is concerned about every detail of your life. Allow Him to love you. Allow yourself to be His child… know who you really are!

Holy Spirit inspired words of truth reminding us to remember we are Abba's little children, filled with the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ uniting us with Him as One.

Dear Jesus, please live your life through us and keep us abiding in you. I pray in your Holy Name, Amen.
