"Remember Me!"

What are you remembering? When Jesus sat at the final gathering of supper, He said, “Remember Me!” Tragedy was about to strike. The emotions of the apostles were about to catapult them into fear and distress. But Jesus said, “Remember Me!” That instruction was for them, and it is also for us. Be focused on Jesus: Jesus the Healer, the Forgiver, the one Who raised the dead, Who multiplied fish and bread to feed the hungry, the Compassionate One, the Merciful One, the One Who was love Himself; Jesus… “Remember Me!”

Remembering Jesus, as Paul said, is “…joy unequaled” (Amplified Philippians 3:8). Remembering Him is to spend time in His presence, recounting His miracles, recalling His acts of compassion and mercy, observing His suffering and why He suffered, and celebrating the magnificence of His work of the cross. Jesus is responsible for our transformation by the work of the Holy Spirit, Who produces fruit in our lives. Remembering Jesus is to know Who He is and who we are by His transforming work.

Remembering Jesus means you remember who He created you to be. You are His workmanship. He cleansed you and made you holy; the dead, sinful nature is gone; you have His nature and are just like Him! You possess raising from the dead power from the Father! This insight should sustain you while you are a citizen of heaven living temporarily on this earth. It provides an expectation of what it means to live by the spirit and not by the flesh, or the soulish parts of you (mind, will, and emotions). This should give you hope. You are a magnificent and dearly loved, highly favored child of God, blessed because you believe in Jesus Christ, Who now resides in you! This knowledge comes because you remember Jesus!

““Look at Me”, Jesus is saying. You may be experiencing trials or hardship, but keep your attention on Me! I have equipped you to deal with the very problem that is trying to bring you down! Instead, I have raised you above that matter, because you are positioned in Me, one with My Spirit! Pay attention to Me and be controlled by My Spirit, and you will soar on eagle's wings; you will run and not be weary, and you will walk and not faint. For I am God and there is no other!”

Remembering Jesus encourages us at all times. He is the same today as He was yesterday, and He will be the same tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8). You may be facing trouble, but Jesus hasn’t changed! He is the same Jesus Who raised Lazarus from the dead; healed the woman with the issue of blood; changed water into wine; fed thousands with a few loaves of bread and fish; knew people's thoughts before they spoke; demonstrated greater wisdom than the wisest of men; won every challenge of satan; and finished His work by incredible suffering, dying but rising from the dead and now lives in each believer!

Jesus desires that we remember Him, remember all aspects of His character, because the victory of our lives on earth depends on what we remember and what we are focused on. He instructed us, “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:3); He is asking you to remember Him!
