PURCHASED, FORGIVEN, AND MADE HOLY BY JESUS CHRIST

You were an “expensive purchase, paid for with the tears of blood…” (1 Corinthians 6:20 TPT).

Jesus’ "heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be His.” Therefore, “He endured the agony of the cross” … (Hebrews 12:2). While He was on the cross suffering from being beaten beforehand, being crowned with thorns, and from the crucifixion itself, He was thinking about you! He was thinking about having a relationship with you and spending eternity with you because His actions would make you new, holy, cleansed, and purified in your spirit; His Holy Spirit was about to be made available to indwell you! This gave Jesus great joy; joy so extravagant that He experienced suffering beyond human comprehension to bring this reality into existence!

It is beyond human understanding that Jesus was dying for the very people who were torturing and killing Him. To God, sin was sin, and therefore He was not only dying for them, but He was also dying for you! We were all sinners! None of us deserved Jesus’ sacrifice. But He knew that; Jesus knew exactly who He was dying for, yet we were the joy set before Him during horrific suffering. He was paying the price for people who were mocking, torturing, and killing Him. He was paying the price for you, too!

“But Christ provided God’s compassionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly” (Romans 5:8 TPT). “Christ suffered and died for sins once and for all – the innocent for the guilty – to bring you near to God by His body being put to death and by being raised to life by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18). Jesus did not pay for your life by purchasing you with silver or gold; He purchased you with His blood (1 Peter 1:18,19)!

For those who believe in Jesus as the Son of God and His sacrifice, it has profound consequences: Because of Jesus and His sacrifice, “You will never experience the wrath of God” (Romans 5:9 TPT). He has issued His final verdict over you, “Not guilty” (Romans 8:33 TPT)! “By God’s will we have been purified and made holy once and for all through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus, the Messiah” (Hebrews 10:10 TPT). “And by His one perfect sacrifice He made us perfectly holy and complete for all time” (Hebrews 10:14). Jesus “once and for all … appeared to put away and abolish sin by His sacrifice [of Himself]” (Hebrews 9:26).

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Messiah is God’s spiritual child and has been fathered by God Himself…” (1 John 5:1 TPT). You now experience a spiritual birth; you are not born by two natural parents, but you have been born by God Almighty (John 1:12,13)! As truly as Jesus was born from the Father, so too are you! Now “living within you is Christ who floods you with expectation of glory! The mystery of Christ, embedded with us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with riches of glory for His people, and God wants everyone to know it” (Colossians 1:27 TPT)!

Jesus’ finished work of the cross proves His value for you. “But God shows and clearly proves His (own) love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us” (Romans 5:8 Amp). He proves His love for us by giving us His Holy Spirit to indwell us (Romans 5:5 TPT) because you believe in Him and His sacrifice. It was the cross that made a way for you to experience this new life. You have a new life because Jesus took away your sin, your shame, your weakness, sorrows, and failures, freeing you from all guilt and condemnation! He raised you to a new level of wholeness and purity, permitting you to boldly come into His presence at all times, no matter the circumstance, no matter your sins; you should expect everlasting love and compassion! This is the miracle of restoration that Jesus provided to you. You are valuable to Him, and He desires a relationship with you! He knows your past, present, and future, and still wants you.

It is important to understand that Jesus’ sacrifice endures for all time for everyone who will accept His gift. Every sin for all time is covered by Jesus’ blood. This is because every requirement of the law was fulfilled by Jesus (Romans 8:1-4). As a believer, you benefit from what Jesus did. You actually share in His sacrifice. When Jesus was crucified, it is as if you were crucified. When He died, it was as if we died. When He was raised from the dead, we too were raised from the dead. (Romans 6: 1-11 TPT). You benefit from all that Jesus did. And from this sacrifice, your new life has come! Now you live freely by the power of the Holy Spirit and not the power of guilt and condemnation of sin. Jesus, taking the punishment that you deserved, provides the privilege for you to live on this earth cleansed and purified, never contaminated by sin or judged guilty; your spirit is sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13)! This is the finished work of the cross that Jesus accomplished for you! (Romans 8:1-4) You are qualified to be a child of God. He calls you holy, set apart, highly favored (Ephesians 1:2 TPT). Father God lavishes His love upon you (Ephesians 1:3 TPT). These truths should result in celebration of His goodness and mercy. God sees you as unstained and innocent (Ephesians 1:3,4 TPT). God’s plan to recreate you by the sacrifice of Jesus, to restore you to His original plan for your life, gives Him great pleasure (Ephesians 1:5,6 TPT). He always considered mankind valuable, and He proved it through Jesus!

“… now joined to Christ, we have been given the treasures of redemption by His blood” (Jesus purchased our life with His blood) - "the total cancellation of our sins – all because of the cascading riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7 TPT).

“Look with wonder at the depth of the Father’s marvelous love that He has lavished on us! He has called us and made us His very own beloved children” (1 John 3:1 TPT)!
