How is Jesus living now in His resurrected life? Strange question? The truth of this understanding has miraculous implications for our lives as children of God.
Paul knew the importance of Jesus’ resurrected life. He said it was his determined purpose to know (Philippians 3:10). Why was it important? Because Jesus’ resurrected life was Paul’s life, and it is our life too! When we believed in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, we were “…made alive together in fellowship and union with Christ Himself…” (Amplified Ephesians 2:5). This is the “…hope to which we are called…” (Amplified Ephesians 1:18); this is God’s “rich and glorious inheritance…” (Ephesians 1:18) to us believers! As a born-again child of God, you have received His life (1 John 5:1); you have been given His Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:12; Galatians 4:6)! You share in the resurrected life of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:5). To know who you are, and what you possess, let us exam Who Jesus is as He lives His resurrected life.
Jesus: is holy and sinless becoming sin who knew no sin (2 Corinthians 5:21), destroying sin by His finished work of the cross (Isaiah 53:4,5; Hebrews 9:26); is seated at God’s right hand in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:20); possesses a name that is above every name (Philippians 2:9,10); is far above all principalities, powers, and might (Ephesians 1:21); all things are under His feet; triumphed over the devil, disarming his power, and brought him to “…nought and made him of no effect…” (Hebrews 2:14); is the treasury of all wisdom and knowledge; bore every sickness and disease, nailing it to the cross (Isaiah 53:4,5); is one with the Father and Holy Spirit; possesses divine perfection, powers, and attributes (Colossians 1:19).
As a child of God, you share in the inheritance of all that Jesus is! You are jointly seated with Jesus at this moment, because of your union with Him (Ephesians 2:5,6)! You are sharing His resurrected life! The Holy Spirit present with you is proof of this truth. This life you have is extraordinary! “For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). “You have been crucified with Christ (in Him you have shared His crucifixion); it is no longer you who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in you…” (Amplified Galatians 2:20)
As you read God’s Word, understand that these truths reference your born-again nature, which confirms the truth about your spirit. Your flesh is a container of your spirit. The transformation that occurred in your spirit happened the moment you believed in Jesus Christ, confessing Him as your Lord. This is the truth about who you are presently as you live on this earth! You are no longer in satan’s kingdom as you were transferred from it into the kingdom of Jesus (Colossians 1:13).
The implication of the revelation of these truths is beyond human comprehension. This is why we are instructed to “lean not on our own understanding…” (Proverbs 3:5) but know God’s truth, to renew our minds to His truth (Romans 12:2). As we see Jesus by the Word of God, we should see ourselves and recognize that we are sufficient in His sufficiency (Philippians 4:13). We are not weaklings traveling haphazardly upon this earth, but we are overcomers (1 John 5:4,5; 1 John 4:4); more than conquerors (Romans 8:37) as we share in the likeness and ability of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29)! This should transform how we approach challenges and trouble. How would Jesus approach these difficulties? Jesus is coming from a place of victory that He secured by the finished work of the cross, and so should we. Jesus knows His position against attacks of the enemy who comes to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). But we have established victory in Jesus Christ; we are His very image! This knowledge should give us confidence and boldness in the Lord in all circumstances!
This truth of who we are is the grace of God! We have access to this grace by faith (Romans 5:2), a faith that we possess as a gift of God, a fruit of the actions of the Holy Spirit within us. Receive it! Live your life in it! Be well-balanced on this truth of your life in Jesus Christ!
