The importance of God’s Word must be settled in our life. It must be our vital necessity and given priority. The Word of God must be our solid foundation (Luke 6:47-49).
Scripture confirms the importance of God’s Word: “The Word is perfect, restoring the whole person. The Word is sure, making wise the simple. The Word is right; it rejoices the heart. The Word is pure; it enlightens the eyes.” (Amplified Psalm 19:7,8). The Word is a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). The Word is living and powerful (Hebrews 4:12); it is like fire and like a hammer that breaks things to pieces (Jeremiah 23:28). God has elevated the Word above His name (Psalm 138:2). God is not a liar (Numbers 23:19)!
We are instructed to give attention to God’s Word; incline our ear to it; keep the eyes focused on it; keep it sealed in our hearts; the Word of God is life to those who find it and health to all of the flesh (Proverbs 4:20-23).
Following Moses’ death, God chose Joshua to lead the Israelites. Joshua was expected to fulfill a crucial role which required wisdom, strength, and courage. It was the Word of God that would provide this success. God told Joshua to meditate on the Word, keep it before His eyes, do what was written in it; speak it. This is what would make Joshua prosperous and have good success. (Joshua 1:1-9). It is the same for each of us today!
We must be persuaded by the Word! If it is not trusted and considered vital to our life, we may experience results such as the Israelites did. They heard the Word of God and received His instruction but “they did not listen to His Word and refused to be compliant or be persuaded by it” (Amplified Hebrews 3:18). Due to their unwillingness to believe God’s Word, to trust and rely on what He said, unbelief shut them out from receiving the promises of God (Amplified Hebrews 3:19). Hebrews 3:15 is for each of us today: “when you hear the voice of God do not harden your heart”.
The message of God benefits us when we hear the Word, mix it with faith, believing what God has said is true, being absolutely confident in what He has said, confident in His power, wisdom and goodness (Amplified Hebrews 4:2).
In order for Jesus to capture your gaze, change your thinking, and transform your life, the importance and power of the Word of God must be settled. Jesus demonstrated that God’s Word was preeminent in His life and absolutely necessary in dealing with challenges; Jesus stated, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). God’s Word is your victory!
