A confession of faith is an expression of belief based on the Word of God. His Word renews your mind, and your ears hear truth, the truth of the Good News!
First, you must establish that the Word is alive, active, and full of power, being fully persuaded by it; that God is watching over His Word, and it will not return void without fulfilling the purpose for which it was sent. By the power of His Word, He created and is upholding the earth, the universe, and everything in it. When you see and hear His Word, think about it as a container of power. (Hebrews 4:12; Isaiah 55:11; Hebrews 1:3)
With that being settled, allow His Word to paint a picture of His love, provision, mercy, and compassion. This is an amazing picture of the Father loving His child. Allow His Word to paint a clear picture of the extraordinary gift of His grace.
A Word-Focused Confession: (Based on Psalm 23, 103 and 107:4-9)
I don’t need anything because You have blessed me with everything. In You, I lack no good thing. I am completely cared for by You. You give me the rest I need, and You show me the right direction to walk, that is, to live my life. Even in the midst of tribulations or difficulties, I am not anxious or fearful, because You are with me; You never leave me. Your presence, might, and guidance always make me feel secure. Even in the presence of difficulty and challenges that threaten me, You provide a way through. You show me that You are strong, mighty, and able, and the enemy is weak and powerless. Your love and provision are constant. Your love chases after me. You fellowship with me and nothing can separate me from your love! You revive me and shower me with blessings. Your kindness, goodness, mercy, and compassion are always available to me. Although I reside at this moment on earth, You have transferred me into the Kingdom of the Son of Your love; I benefit from all heavenly, and spiritual blessings now.
I bless Your Holy Name! You have blessed me and I remember Your blessings. I will not forget them. They are available for me now to experience. Every one of my sins is forgiven. Every one of my diseases is healed. You have saved my life by redeeming me from hell. Since I am presently from Your Kingdom, I wear the crown of paradise, a crown of love and mercy. “You wrap me in Your goodness” (The Message Psalm 103:2). Because You are one with me, I experience renewal as if I were young: You energize me and give me strength (The Message Psalm 103:2; Isaiah 40:30,31). You “make everything come out right” (The Message Psalm 103:6). You put me back on my feet. You are mercy and grace and love! You never treat me as I deserve. “As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is Your love for me” (The Message Psalm 103:11). “And as far as sunrise is from sunset, You have separated me from my sins” (The Message Psalm 103:12). You feel for me just like a loving parent feels toward their child. You know me inside and out, and You love me. Your love is forever and always. Lord, You are my King, and I worship You! You deserve all my praise! You created everything. You deserve all my devotion. Worthy are You. Help me never to forget Your marvelous love for me.
Although I may go astray and wander from You, from Your truth as I am tempted and challenged by difficulties, You pursue me. You call me and reach out to me. I strive by myself, take my eyes from You, and try to figure things out on my own, resulting in a half-starved and parched state. Making my way, leaning to my understanding, I stagger and stumble, on the “brink of exhaustion” (The Message Psalm 107:5). In this condition of weakness, almost hopeless, I reach out to You. You don’t push me away. Instead, You correct my steps; You get me back on track. “You put my feet on a wonderful road that took me straight to a good place to live” (The Message Psalm 107:7). I must thank you for your marvelous love. You nourish me as I leave that self-striving place. You nourish me back to health, back to my relationship with You. You pour out Your blessings; every need met, everything that I require for life and godliness supplied. You don’t scold me or nag. But You love me by grace, giving me Your wisdom and encouragement. I feed on Your Word! I feed on Your love! I taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8). I experience the profound outpouring of Your grace by faith, standing securely, expecting an experience of Your love.
In summary…
This picture, painted by the Word of God, is a demonstration of His joy over you! The Word should give you confidence and assurance of His love and blessing. It should prompt you to take a strong stand against any deceit that contradicts God’s Word and alters the truth of Who God is, and who you are as His child. The power of His love is on full display in these words. Let your expectations soar as you believe in His goodness!
John 1:16, The Message Bible, confirms His goodness: “We all live off His generous abundance, gift after gift, after gift.” Take a fearless stand on the Word of God, on His promises (Hebrews 10:35,36). The persistence of a tribulation or struggle does not alter His Word, the completed work of Jesus Christ. You are exercising your faith by taking a stand on what He has accomplished. Endurance, that is your continued stand upon the Word, has a reward. You receive what Jesus has accomplished and display the glory of God! You confidently stand knowing His Word is true! In His strength, you can stand and perform His will. Standing and accomplishing His will means you participate in His promises. Hear Him and do not allow the circumstances to harden your heart or persuade you against Him. Christ’s word is finished. What God said is true; His truth is power. The enemy, anything against God’s Word, is a lie. Truth is truth. A lie is a lie. What is true belongs to you now. Don’t walk away from the power of truth. Don’t be moved from your stand! The enemy is weak. This is a fallen world under his sway, but he is no match for truth! Be well-balanced as you focus on the Lord. Focused on Him you are looking at truth. Looking at truth you are looking at love. Looking at love is transforming you!
